My sincere condolences to Sonia's family. She was a delight, with her wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. When I first came to Sussex, she was like a mother hen, helping me adjust to a new practice, adjusting my schedule when needed, supporting me in every way possible. I'll never forget the calm way she handled a patient who caused a stir by laying on the floor by the photocopier. Thinking she had collapsed, I rushed over. Sonia turned to me and said quietly, "Just a bit of dramatics. Nothing to worry about. Carry on." Then she calmly placed another paper on the photocopier, while the patient got up and returned to the waiting room. Since she lived alone, I once delivered cupcakes on Valentine's Day, with tags saying, Love Tom, Dick and Harry. She didn't miss a beat. "Wonder what happened to Charlie & David," she said.
