I was very sorry to learn of Jean’s death. I savour the memory of many visits to her home. In fact, the first visit I made, upon becoming Head of Millstream’s Baptist pastor, was to Jean, on a snowy evening early in January 2011 (during which I also met Crystal who was concerned about Harry who was on the slippery road that night, returning from Saint John). The next year, in June, Jean hosted Gail and me for a spectacular dinner, with much help from Crystal in preparing the meal. (I think it was turkey with all the proverbial trimmings.)
Jean lived a long life (although her health over the past decade was nothing to write home about). She was the “matriarch” of Morgan Hill Road and a lovely Christian lady whose faith in Christ and commitment to His church were exemplary. I am very grateful to whomever wrote her obituary, containing its painstaking list of Jean’s many family members. Gail and I pray God’s comfort and peace for you all and give thanks to God for “Old Nan’s” life. We resolve to follow her example (and honour her memory) by “running the race set before us” with all diligence.
