Obituary of Jim Buchanan
It is with heavy hearts that the family of James Maurice Buchanan announce his passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on February 8, 2025 at the age of 59 with family and friends by his side.
Born in Saint John, NB on May 31, 1965; he was the son of Connie (Davis) Buchanan and the late Maurice Buchanan. Jim was raised in Hammondvale and spent his whole life there.
Jim was a hardworking man, who took great pride in his work. His biggest passion was the love he had for his family. He was lucky enough to be married to the love of his life for 40 years. Together they built a life and celebrated their love with two beautiful children. He loved teaching his son about mechanics, teaching his daughter about finances and instilling in them the importance of education. He thought the world of his Future son in law , and could not put into words how much his work family meant to him and how today we as a family are so thankful for them.
He was a true sports fan – constantly cheering on the 49ers, Toronto Maple Leafs, NY Islanders and the Orioles. Jim was a proud pitcher and loved playing softball. A true lover of the game, he met a lot of lifelong friends throughout the games he played. Always gave 110 percent.
Jim had a passion for home cooking, he was meat and potato man who loved lemon squares and blueberry cheesecake. He loved to make doughnuts for his family and friends and to cook a good burger. He loved action and comedy movies, all animals and shopping, whether it was for his new Ford Raptor, a Ford for each of the kids or gifts for Christmastime.
Jim was a wonderful Husband, Dad, son, brother and friend and will be deeply missed. He was a true leader and always spoke the truth. everything he did was 110 percent and expected no less from his family he always said " if its worth doing its worth doing right”. He cherished his friends and enjoyed late night phone conversation with his special cousin Gary he also enjoyed the heart-to-heart conversations with friends.
He will live on in the hearts of his loving wife, Linda; their children: Twyla Buchanan (Josh Reicker) and Justin Buchanan; his future grandchildren: Jack and Emmett; his mother, Connie Buchanan; his brother, Kevin Buchanan and his wife Tammy and their sons: Colin and Dylan; his brothers-in-law: Don Hawkes, Bryant Hawkes and his wife Gwen and Allan Hawkes and his wife Ann; his sister-in-law, Evelyn Richardson; his fur babies: Buck, Marge and Harris; his aunts and uncles: Marion and Steve Lamb, Rob Davis, Janet and Calvin Fenwick, Patricia Palmer, Marina Buchanan, Zeta Seeley, Randy Buchanan, Doreen and Robert McGouey, Judy McKinnon, Carol and Ralph Dempster and Melvin and Barb Buchanan; as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Along with his father, he is predeceased by his maternal grandparents: Leona and Alvin Davis; his paternal grandparents: Harry and Edna Buchanan; his sister-in-law, Carol Hawkes and by his uncles: Jim Davis, Doug Davis, Alvin Davis Jr. and Melbourne Buchanan and by his aunt, Eloise Adair.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) at Jim’s request no service will be held.
