I recall many fun times and laughs with Stephen over the many years that we worked together in the Navy. Due to time and distance we drifted out of touch, I am still saddened to learn of his death today. My thoughts are with Therese and Jesse at this emotional time. Kind regards, Darcy Truen

I was saddened to hear of Stephen's passing. I knew him as a young man when he was a cadet with "Vindictive" and he will always remain locked in my memory as a good-natured, reliable, and focused teenager. He was also the possessor of the most wicked floor-hockey slap shot that usually resulted in a scattering of anyone in front of him when he was winding up for fear of being hit by that puck. Sometimes even the wall didn't survive unscathed.
I read his obituary with interest and I am pleased to see that my impressions of him as a teen were manifest in his later life and career. He clearly had a good life and lived it well - albeit far too short.
My sincere condolences to his family, his former shipmates, and to Kevin.

With regrets on the passing of our shipmate. Stephen was larger than life. His smile and booming laugh from the drill deck or the harbour jetty outside made our shipboard work light. To both Therese and Jesse (who we are sad to have never met), our thoughts and heartfelt prayers are with you. Stephen, may you find safe haven, smooth sailing and following seas forever.

My deepest sympathies to Thérèse and Jessie and your family.
It is hard to put into words how much impact he had on me and anyone that knew him.
From day one when I first started working with Stephen I felt welcomed and supported.
I worked with Stephen for 20 years and even after he was not my Team Leader anymore.. I always went to him for advice.
He seemed to always have the solution to any problem or would talk with you in finding the solution on your own with his guidance.
I will always have great memories of the times we did team meetings together, hearing his stories when he was in the Navy, or stories with his family.
He was great mentor and friend and will be dearly missed

well he was a legend. First off my condolences to his family whom i never met but feel for your loss. I met Steve in the reserves when we both took basic training. He became a great friend back then even though he was a bosun and i was an engineer. I made the bus trip a few times to Thunder Bay where he enjoyed his rum and pineapple juice. He always had a smile on his face and sometimes led us astray. I caught up with him in covid and we were able to talk and laugh together about our old days. I was planning a trip to the east coast but life got in the way. just happy to know he is looking down on you and watching his son grow up. Till we meet again Steve fair winds and calm seas brother

Unfortunately, I only met Stephen once or twice, but I fondly remember playing a fun game of pool one evening with he, Therese and Gerald Leclerc a former colleague. It was one of my best games played but I think the beer may have helped. ;)
Therese, Jesse and family, I am so sorry to hear of Stephen's passing. My heart hurts for you and I hope the wonderful memories you shared bring you peace and comfort in the coming days. I will keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.
Rest easy, Stephen and thank you for your service. <3
Sincerely,
Christina Schaefer
