Obituary of David Davis
It is with both love and sadness that the family announces the peaceful passing of David Carl Davis that occurred on Sunday, April 6, 2025. David was surrounded by the love of family members and some of his Kiwanis Nursing Home family who showed their love for David until the end.
David was born on May 28, 1959, and was the son of the late Leta Eileen (Davis) Young. He was raised by his grandparents the late Alvin Davis Sr. and the late Leona (Garron) Davis. David spent most of his life growing up in Hammond Vale and later moved to Sussex Corner with his grandparents. Days later, he went to live with his cousin, Michael Gibson, his wife, Natasha, and their daughter, Kayla in Riverview where he lived a very happy and adventurous life.
David was a kind, warm and loving person. He looked at the world in a unique way and always noticed the little things and found joy in other things that others may not take note of. He had a strong faith and relationship with his saviour and if he knew anyone was sick he would tell them that he would say a prayer for them and meant it from his heart.
David loved people and made many friends both with residents and staff during his time spent at the Kiwanis Nursing Home. He loved his family and always looked forward to a visit from anyone who would come to see him. He made a bucket list every year for Connie and Marion to fulfill and they always made sure to get it completed with the help of Steve.
He loved his special visits from Percy and Mary Ellen Clouston who treated him not just as a friend, but as family. A special thanks to Gloria Hayward for her time spent with Dave, he made a special bond with her.
David always enjoyed his trips to Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. He loved going for drives to St. Martin’s, Fundy Park and Belleisle to go on the ferry with Marion, Steve and Connie. He loved the outdoors.
He had a passion for photography and enjoyed going for scenic drives so he could capture the most unique settings. He loved to build Lego and built some very detailed things. He was also a collector of license plates and had a passion for big machinery, trucks and emergency vehicles. In his younger years, he always dreamed of being an ambulance driver, police officer or truck driver.
David enjoyed country and gospel music. He also loved the activities at KNG and loved winning at Bingo. His special Wednesday Night (once a month) friend, Ann Robinson was always someone he looked forward to coming to help him. Among the many things David enjoyed, he also loved catching the "good 'ol hockey game." He never lost faith in and loved cheering on his beloved Toronto Maple Leafs.
David looked forward to his special occasion cards from Zeta Seeley and Eloise Adair. They never missed an occasion to send a card or something for a little treat. He loved getting cards from them.
He loved animals (especially dogs). One of his favorite dogs, he called black dog, and he always enjoyed visits from the therapy dogs who visited the KNH.
David’s battle with his ataxias in recent months showed his strengths and faced the challenge most days despite what his body was going through with a smile, he stayed strong until the end.
David is survived by his siblings: Janet Hunt (Dennis), Adam Young (Denise) and Gloria Mott (Brian); his aunts: Patricia Palmer, Connie Buchanan, Janet Fenwick (Calvin) and Marion Lamb (Steve); his uncles: Donnie Davis, Arnold Davis (Doreen) and Robert Davis; also, many special nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and extended family members.

His memory will remain in the hearts of his entire family and many cherished friends.

Connie and Marion would like to express their thanks to the staff at the Kiwanis Nursing Home for the care given to David during his 7 years as a resident there. Special thanks to the palliative care team and all the staff who stopped by David’s room on the day of his passing. Natasha you have a special place in our hearts, you went above and beyond, Dave knew you were the one playing his song by Stompin’ Tom Connors – “The Good Ole Hockey Game” while he was snuggled in his Toronto Maple Leafs Blanket. Also Thank you Pam Urquhart for stopping by Dave’s room and having a word of prayer as we formed a circle of love. Sharon for looking after us if we needed something. Thanks Everyone.
Those we love remain with us, for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade, because a loved one is gone.
Rest in Peace Dear David.
