Obituary of David Thorne

It is with heavy hearts that the family of David Travis Thorne announce his passing on April 21, 2025, at the Sussex Health Centre in Sussex, NB. Born in Sussex, NB on June 14, 1943, David was a son of the late George and Lula (Lewis) Thorne.  

David is survived his children: David Thorne (Kathleen) of Charters Settlement, NB, Mark Thorne (Amanda) of Coles Island, NB, Cynthia Thorne of North Port, NS, Shaunta Thorne (Glen) of Sussex, NB; his grandchildren: Amber (Darryl), Corey, Paul, Scott, Michael, Daniel, Keely-Shaye, Katrina, Willow, Braxton, and Lucas; his siblings: Charles Thorne (Doris) of Sussex, NB, William Thorne (Jean) of Boutiliers Point, NS, Douglas of Toronto, ON, Carl Thorne (Emily) of Sussex, NB, Ruby McFarlane (Edward) of Waterford, NB, Joan Ward of Tillsonburg, ON, Judy Pascoe (Ivan) of Sussex, NB and sisters-in-law Anne, Jean and Cathy. David is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, step-children, step-grandchildren and the mother of his children, Alice Thorne.

Besides his parents, David was predeceased by his partner, Dale; his sons, Terry and John; his brothers: Arnold, Donald, Robert, Wayne, Brian, Ronald, and Lloyd; his sisters: Beulah and Mildred; as well as several brother- and sisters-in-law.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will take place on Saturday, April 26 from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm. Another visitation will take place on Sunday, April 27 from 1:00-2:00 pm, followed by a celebration of David’s life at 2:00 pm from the Wallace Community Chapel.

Donations in memory of David may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, CNIB, or a charity of the donor’s choice. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to help care for David’s many fur babies. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com.
