Obituary of Jean Grice
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Jean Grice announce her passing at Medley Hall (Fredericton) on April 29, 2025 at the age of 93.
Born in Sussex, NB on December 14, 1931; she was the daughter of the late Rolland and Helen (Spragg) Thorne.
Jean was a dedicated wife to the late Tony Grice, a loving mother to her two children: Donna Williamson and her husband Peter Porteous of Halifax and Larry Grice of Fredericton; She adored her six grandchildren: Ashlee, Renee, Ryan (Ebony), Rebecca (Mike), Zach and Ben and her six great grandchildren: Willow, Sawyer, Miller, Kade, Molly and Violet.
She is also survived by her brothers: Frank Thorne and his wife Melba of McGregor Brook and Roland Thorne of Apohaqui as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her sister, Eva (Cameron) Palmer.
She loved to host visitors and feed her guests. She could do home fries like no one else on the planet. In her younger days she was an excellent seamstress and loved to make and paint ceramics. Her Christmas Santas were a cherished keepsake.
She was a faithful member of the Calvary Pentecostal Church, and she loved to read her bible and attend church regularly. Her life’s mission was to care for her family and to always care for and brighten the day of all those she encountered. Her heart and smile will be missed by many.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A visitation will take place on Monday, May 5, from 1:00-2:00pm, followed by a celebration of Jean’s life at 2:00pm from the Wallace Community Chapel.
