Winston MacEachern

Obituary of Winston MacEachern

It is with heavy yet peaceful hearts that we announce the passing of Winston Morris MacEachern.

Winston slipped quietly into the arms of Jesus in Sussex, NB, surrounded by his loving family.

The proud son of Murdock and Josie MacEachern, Winston was born in September, 1945, in North River Bridge. “Winnie” spent his early days helping in his parents store & Post Office and was often the one people called on when they needed a helping hand. He met Donna at a dance at Birches Hall, and together they spent a lifetime dancing through the seasons of life. Winston dedicated 42 years of his life to construction work, served faithfully at his church in both Cape Breton and Sussex, and could fix just about anything he put his hands to. He loved music, working in his garden, and the Montreal Canadians.

Throughout his courageous battle with cancer in recent years, Winston’s light never dimmed. His unwavering love for Jesus and others was the foundation under every step he took. In Winston’s presence, no one was a stranger. With a contagious smile and a heartfelt hug, he had a rare gift for making everyone feel like family. He wore his faith like a garment, obvious but not overstated. He was so comfortable wearing it, you wanted to shop at the same store. His very life spoke Jesus and continues to do so even as he now walks in His presence.

Winston leaves behind his beloved wife of 52 years, Donna (MacLennan), and his four children: Kim (Ray) Butler, Winston (Alicia) MacEachern, Stephen (Susan) MacEachern, and Leanne (Eric) Williston. He also leaves behind his eleven cherished grandchildren: Luke, Jacob, Sydney, Hudson, Ethan, Jovi, Ruby, Maggie, Casey, Lucy, and Evie — they will all miss him dearly. He is also survived by his brother, Duncan (Chrissie) MacEachern, and sisters, Nancy Rowe and Heather Dauphney. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, whom he loved and was loved by. Winston was predeceased by his parents, Murdock and Josie MacEachern; his sisters, Donna (Frizzell) and Grace in infancy; and his brother, Keith MacEachern.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176).

A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 15, from 6 – 8 p.m., at Wesley Hall on the Kingswood University Campus in Sussex, NB.
