Obituary of Wayne Coates

It is with profound sadness that the family of Wayne Edward Coates announce his passing which occurred suddenly but peacefully at this residence in Sussex on May 12, 2025. Born in Sussex, NB on February 14, 1941; he was the son of the late Edward and Jean (Rouse) Coates.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 64 years, Margaret (Thorne) Coates; his son, Randy Coates (Melanie Gregg) of Upperton; his daughter, Kathy Morrell of Sussex; he also leaves behind his grandson, Dylan Coates of Havelock, along with his four-legged grand dog, Tuck – who many met while driving around with his Grampy. He is also survived by his sister, Eleanor McCullum of Apohaqui and brother, Ronald Coates (Ann) of Knightville and several nieces and nephews who will miss him dearly.

Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his brother-in-law: Delbert Thorne, Gerald Muir and Stanley Thorne and by his sisters-in-law: Patricia Thorne and Betty Muir.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). At Wayne’s request no visitation or funeral service will be held.  The private family interment will take place in Kirk Hill Cemetery at 1:00pm.

Wayne’s family will receive family and friends at the Sussex Baptist Church on May 17, 2025 at 2:00pm for a time of memories and fellowship.
