Obituary of Harley Hunt
Harley Lloyd Hunt, age 81, of Sussex, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 2, 2025, at the Sussex Health Centre, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Portage Vale, NB, on May 8, 1944, and moved to the Sussex area in 1950.
Harley is survived by his devoted wife of 57 years, Linda (Walker) Hunt; his sons: Andrew (Diane), Barry (Heather), and lan (Jacqueline); and his cherished grandchildren: Hannah, Kennedy, Sarah, Helen, Keegan, Isaac, Carter, and Hudson. He is also survived by his brother Reginald and his sister Catherine Anderson (Coleman); his mother-in-law Edna (Friars) Walker; brothers-in-law David (Susan) Walker, Daryl (Ruth) Walker, and Jeffrey (Suzanne) Walker; sisters-in-law Linda (Martin) Walker and Patsy Walker (Dean Clarke); as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Lloyd and Elsie (McGibbon) Hunt; his daughter-in-law Cindy (Snider) Hunt; his father-in-law Frank Walker; and his brother-in-law Brian Walker.
Harley was a deeply engaged member of the community. He was a long-time member and Elder of St. Paul's United Church, Past President of the Lions Club of Sussex, and active with the Silverados, the Minor Hockey Association, and served as a Councillor for the Village of Sussex Corner.
He also played a significant role in the local business community for over 50 years, including involvement with H.L. Hunt Ltd. and Sussex Excavators Ltd.
The family would like to extend heartfelt thanks to the many friends and family who visited Harley at the Sussex Health Centre. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses, and support staff who provided exceptional care during his final days.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). A celebration of Harley's life will take place on Friday, July 4 at 2:00pm from St. Paul's United Church (4 Morrison Ave., Sussex, NB).
