Obituary of Paul Coggar
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Paul Garfield Coggar who left us on June 4, 2025 at the age of 70. A devoted father, proud grandfather, and friend to many, Paul lived life to the fullest and leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unforgettable memories.
Born and raised in Sussex, He was the son of the late Edward and Dorothy Marie (Morrow) Cogger and the loving husband of Judy (McArthur) Coggar.
Paul was a simple, salt of the earth man who had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. He found his greatest joy in life’s simplest pleasures — hunting at dawn, casting a fishing line on a quiet lake, or sitting by a crackling bonfire under the stars. Whether he was camping with family, tending to his beloved vegetable garden, or exploring the woods on his four-wheeler, he embraced every moment with passion and gratitude.
A hardworking man through and through, Paul brought determination and heart to everything he did. Although he enjoyed all of his work as an electrician for Wally Cook, Hillis Briggs and later himself (Coggar Electric) - He truly loved his time with the Irving Sawmill where he worked until his retirement in 2017. But beyond his dedication to work, his greatest pride was his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father whose wisdom and warmth shaped the lives of his children, and a proud grandfather whose eyes lit up every time he spoke of his grandkids and special great grand furbabies. Time spent with them was his greatest treasure. Paul also was a beloved hockey coach for his son – never missing a game; never missed a figure skating event for his daughter and loved attending soccer games for the kids.
In quieter moments, Paul loved a good game of Bingo on his tablet or Tuesday Night Radio Bingo. He loved people and could often be found sharing laughs and stories with those lucky enough to run into him. His sense of humor, strong values, and kind heart touched everyone who knew him.
He will live on in the hearts of his beloved wife, Judy; his children: Pat Coggar and his wife Jill of Nashwaak Bridge and Jody Coggar and Jason Wilkins of Sussex; his siblings: John Cogger and his wife Joan of Roachville, Bryan Coggar and Eileen Fanjoy of Petitcodiac and Anne Friars and her husband Bruce of Plumweseep; his brothers-in-law: Dave Walsh of Smiths Creek and Ronnie McArthur and his wife Georgie of Fredericton; his sister-in-law, Sandra Hay and her husband Larry of Plumweseep; his grandchildren: Nicole Kilpatrick and her husband Nick, John Clain, Samantha Clain and Jackson Coggar; his great grand furbabies: Gracie and Gunner; as well as several nieces, nephews and friends who will miss him deeply.
Along with his parents, he is predeceased by his sister, Mary Taylor.
Though he has left this world, his spirit will forever live on in the forests he walked, the gardens he grew, and the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
