Obituary of Brian Cossaboom

Brian David Cossaboom, born August 9, 1957, in Melrose, New Hampshire, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 6, 2025, with his wife of 11 years Rosemarie and his beloved companion Mackie at his side.

He is survived by the mother of his children, Susan Greenlaw of Grand Manan; his son, Jake (Jennifer) and grandson, Samuel, of Grand Manan; his daughter Sable (Caleb) and granddaughters Eliana and Abby from Grand Manan. He is also survived by his four sisters: Darlene Cossaboom of Dartmouth, Shirley Cossaboom of Albuquerque, NM, Denise Cossaboom of Sussex, and Andrea LehBrink of Berlin, Germany.

He was predeceased by his father, Henry Holmes and his mother Sarah Ruth, his younger brother, Leige Murray, and his dearest brother-in-law, Kirsten LehBrink.

He spent many years working as a light housekeeper on Machismo Seal Island, fishing the Bay of Fundy, and was an all-around jack-of-all-trades. When he moved to Sussex 18 years ago, he worked on the mine towers and construction. His last few years working, he was employed at Mrs. Dunster’s in the kitchen.

Brian was the larger-than-life uncle to his nephews and nieces and most of the kids in the neighborhood. Uncle Brian, called by all, was always up for making adventures. He was a hard worker, but in his free time, he loved playing pool, singing karaoke, especially his favourite “Lady in Red” and  “House of the Rising Sun” at the local bar. In his later years, when his health declined, he spent many hours playing cribbage. But the one thing that never changed was his willingness to lend a helping hand. He always made you feel welcome and would bring a smile to your face with his silly pranks and jokes. He was loved by many, and he will be missed by all.

Rest in peace.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 19 from 10:00am-1:00pm.
