Obituary of Makenna Richard

We are saddened to announce the passing of Makenna Crystal Richard, aged 15, who passed peacefully at the IWK in Halifax, NS on June 30, 2025. Born April 4, 2010 in Saint John, NB, diagnosed with Congenital Muscular Dystrophy, Makenna fought with strength and bravery. Makenna has touched many hearts and souls. Throughout her life she has taught others to look for the small delights. She encouraged all who met her to shine and love unconditionally. Her sass and tenacity was her secret weapon. She will forever live in all our hearts.

Makenna is survived by: Mom, Tricia; her siblings, Jordan, Parker, Riley and Cody;. Maternal Grandfather, Tom Richard; Maternal Grandmother, Barb Richard; Paternal Grandparents, Wayne and Judy Hicks. She is also survived by many Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Friends and Loved Ones. Makenna was predeceased by her Father, DeWayne Hicks. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where friends and well-wishers will gather on Sunday, July 6th, 2025 from 11am - 2pm.
A celebration of Makenna’s life will be immediately following at 2pm. Makenna loved the fun in life and as a reflection of her spirit the family encourages those in attendance to wear their favorite bright colour.
