Obituary of Doris McBride
It is with deep love and sadness that the family of Doris Elsebeth McBride announce her peaceful passing, surrounded by her family on August 11, 2025, at the Sussex Health Centre, at the age of 92.
Born in Roachville, New Brunswick, She was the daughter of the late Peder Pedersen and Signe Larsen, and the beloved wife of the late Frank McBride, who passed away in 1995.
Doris lived a full and vibrant life. She had a deep love for the ocean and made it a point to visit at least once a year. She found joy in gardening—both flowers and vegetables—and in the many hobbies she pursued, including knitting, puzzles, paint-by-numbers, crafts, sewing, crossword puzzles, Chinese checkers, and Scrabble. She enjoyed bicycling to town with her grandson, spending time with her cats, and relished a good meal at a restaurant, which she considered a special treat.
She loved reading and was a proud member of both a book club and a writing club. Doris enjoyed going to the movies, visiting with friends over coffee or endless pots of tea, and hosting Sunday dinners. Family was at the heart of everything she did, and she cherished phone calls home to her mother and sister—conversations that kept her Danish heritage alive. She was able to speak danish with them, a skill she treasured.
Growing up on a farm and later marrying a farmer, Doris understood the value of hard work and the beauty of a simple life. She was kind, loving, and resilient—qualities that shone even more after she earned her driver’s license at the age of 64, giving her the freedom to drive to town, something that brought her great joy.
Doris’s life was one of devotion—to her family, to her heritage, and to the simple pleasures that made her happy. Her warmth, kindness, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
