Obituary of Betty Cotter

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth “Betty” Cotter of Sussex, NB at Medley Hall Nursing Home in Fredericton, NB on August 22nd 2025 at the age of 94.

Born in Norton, NB on November 17th, 1930 she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine (Campbell) O'Leary.

Betty graduated from Mount Carmel Commercial College in 1953. She was an employee with the National Bank of Canada for 35 years. Throughout her retirement of 37 years, she was an active volunteer in the community. Until recently, she was an active member of Saint Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church.

She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Betty is survived by her son, David A. Cotter and his wife Heather of Quispamsis; her daughter, Catherine Cotter and her husband Corey Redekop of Fredericton; her grandson, Xavier Cotter of Quispamsis; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.

 Along with her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husband Edward Cotter in 2006 and by her sisters: Anne Parlee, Jean Wilson, Kay O'Leary and Jessie Malone.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside drive Sussex 506-433-1176 from our visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 27th, 2025 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from Saint Francis Xavier Roman Catholic Church on Thursday August 28th, 2025 at 11 AM. The interment will take place at Wards Creek cemetery followed by a time of fellowship with the family in the church hall.

A special thanks to the staff and caregivers at Medley Hall Nursing Home in Fredericton, NB who provided wonderful and supportive care during her stay.
