Obituary of Arlene Butland

It is with deep sadness that the family of Ellen “Arlene” Butland announce her passing, which occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on Tuesday, October 21, 2025. Born in Saint John, NB on April 7, 1939, she was a daughter of the late Clarence and Greta (Mallory) Hamm.

Arlene will live on in the hearts of her loving husband of 64 years, David Butland, of Sussex Corner, NB; her children: Patricia Butland of Sussex Corner, NB and Pamela (her "PJ") Deering of Rothesay, NB; her beloved grandson, Christian Deering; and her sister-in-law, Alda Butland El-Gabalawy (Hani). Arlene is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Arlene was predeceased by her two sisters and one brother.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where a Celebration of Arlene’s life will take place on Saturday, November 1 at 1:00pm.
