Obituary of Ivan Smith

It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ivan Ashley Smith.

 Ivan passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on November 12, 2025 at the age of 92.

Born in Lakeside, NB on June 14, 1933, he was the son of Edgar and Sarah (Walker) Smith. Ivan was a skilled mechanic who worked on school buses for many years with School District 20. He found great joy in hunting, fishing, and tending to his own woodlot. He was quick with a joke and loved to make people laugh. Ivan loved with his whole heart. He was sweet, kind, and generous—qualities that made him dearly loved and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Ivan will forever live on in the hearts of his loving wife, Pearl; his children; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife and mother of his children: Joyce; his brother, Edgar Smith; his sisters, Annie Ricker, Dorothy Tippit, Irene Long, and Mildred Fowler; as well as four grandchildren.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, New Brunswick (433-1176). A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, November 18, at 2:30 p.m., at Newtown Baptist Cemetery.
