Obituary of Peter Cyngot

Peter Richard Cyngot of Hampton, NB

Born June  4, 1955, in Athelstan, Quebec

Died November 19, 2025, aged 70  at Bobby’s Hospice, Saint John, NB

Peter is predeceased by his parents Ted and Agnes (Kee)

Survived by his wife of 36 years Sara (Bursey), daughters Lindsay Cyngot and Nikki Cyngot  (mother Marlene), sister Toni (Alistair Miller), sister-in law Joan Routledge (Preston), brother-in-law Walter Bursey (Theresa), and his many nieces and nephews.

Peter will be deeply missed not only by his precious family,  but by many friends and colleagues with whom he associated over the years. He spent his career as a talented photographer, and graphic designer. He was well liked and respected wherever he went.

Peter spent many years happily riding his motorcycle and though no longer riding in later years, he would give a little sigh of longing when seeing one pass by. He also enjoyed his summer hockey games with his favorite regulars and badminton with his buddies during the off-season. Game day rituals in the Cyngot house were as dependable as the rising sun! Another pastime he particularly enjoyed, was subjecting one and all  to a plethora of lame dad jokes that he got from who knows where.

Anyone who knew Peter knew him to be kind and generous. He was quick to lend a hand and always willing to give something up to help someone in need. As a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served in many service oriented callings, including Bishop of the Kennebecasis Ward.

For Peter, family, faith, and friends were the joys of his life. His family in particular was his most precious blessing and knowing that families are forever, his most precious gift. This glorious gospel truth means that though we must part today, we shall soon be a family again.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 177 Villa Drive Hampton, NB on Sunday, November 23, 2025 from 1-1:45pm. A Funeral Service will be immediately following.
