Obituary of Germaine Richard
It is with deep sadness that the family of Germaine Marie Richard announce her passing, which occurred at her residence on Friday, December 5, 2025. Born in Rexton, NB on September 19, 1937, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Albert and Mary Dalie Robichaud.
Everyone loved Germaine. If you needed help, she was there to lend a helping hand or simply was there to lend support. She loved to bake and then give it away to her friends and all she knew, just because she felt she should share it. She loved to read, Louie L’Amore, any western novels, and hexagon word search books were favourites. For music, she was a fan of old, old country and favoured the old, old movies too.
Germaine worked hard during her lifetime. In Schefferville, Quebec, she worked at two different hotels answering the phones and doing paperwork. While in Quebec, she also worked the cash at a local restaurant.
Her family meant the world to her, and she poured herself into dad, myself and my brother. Whenever she faced a challenge or question, she always boldly attempted to figure it out. When dad’s work was on strike, she set out to go to work.
We would like to express our thankfulness to her doctor, Dr. Butler, and his receptionist, Lori, and all the other office staff. We also wish to thank Dr. Dao and her husband.
Germaine will live on in the hearts of her children: Denise Richard (Alan Teakles) of Penobsquis, NB and Ted Richard (Sandy) of Spruce View, AB; her grandchildren: Amanda Lee (Philip), Dillon (Elizabeth), Scott (Kelsey), Billie Gean, MacKenzie, Holly (Colton); great-grandchildren: Joseph, Natalie, Gideon, Neriah, Leah, Hazel, and Henry; her brother, Connelly Robichaud of Alberta; and her sister, Rose Thompson of Rexton, NB. Germaine is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Germaine was predeceased by her husband, Vincent; her brother, Donald (Duck) Robichaud; her brother-in-law, Brian Thompson; and her nephew, Devin Thompson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), from where a visitation will be held on Thursday, December 11 from 4-7pm. A celebration of Germaine’s life will take place on Friday, December 12 at 11:00am from St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church (114 Church Ave, Sussex, NB).
Donations to the IWK, the Heart & Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Donations and personal condolences to the family may be made through www.wallacefuneralhome.com
