Obituary of Gail Nelson

Gail Ellen Nelson of Sussex, NB passed away on January 5, 2026 at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Gail was born January 22, 1942, Lower Cape, Albert County, NB. She was the daughter, along with four brothers, of the late Russell and Ferne (Milton) Nelson.

Gail attended Riverside Consolidated School, Riverside, Albert County; Success Business College, Moncton; night classes, UNB Saint John, where she earned a General Insurance Degree (AlIC).

Gail was employed in Management Positions in the General Insurance Industry, both Companies and Agencies, retiring from Huestis Insurance, Saint John at age 70. She was very much a career lady.

Gail's personal interests consisted of love of family, friends and her beloved pets.

Her pets consisted of large parrots, cats, dogs and tropical fish, most often multiples of each at the same time. She raised large parrots for a number of years. She particularly loved hand feeding the many babies, that are spread across Canada and the USA. She, along with her brothers, inherited the love of pets from their parents, especially their mother.

Gail is survived by brothers: Merrill Allan Nelson, Sussex; Eric Russell Nelson, his wife Carole, Sussex: Garth Stephen Nelson, his wife Allison, Kitchener Waterloo, Ont.; and sister-in-law, Carolyn Nelson, Vermilion Bay, Ont., along with nieces, nephews, and many cousins.

Gail was predeceased by her brother, Carter Brent Nelson, Vermilion Bay; sister-in-law Dorothy Nelson, Sussex; her first husband James Perry Crowe, Sussex; second husband George Fredrick Scovil, Springfield, NB.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). Gail has requested no visitation or funeral service, her ashes will be interred in the Anglican Church Cemetery, Belleisle, NB beside her second husband.
