She was on the Mill Cove Nursing Home Foundation Committee and the Coles Island Cemetery Committee.  She was involved in a quilting group in her later years.  Travel was a huge part of her life with many visits to family and friends.  She cherished the relationships she developed over the years.  Distance was never an issue with Freda.  Her and Chet made five trips across Canada in their campers.  She also made trips to the United States.  She loved her cruises and a trip to the Holy lands in her later years.  She loved to support and enjoy the many community suppers with special friends like her devoted friend Cathy Nowlan.
