Obituary of Hilda Meehan
It is with peaceful hearts that we announce the passing of Hilda Louise Meehan, who passed away on January 11, 2026, at the Sussex Health Centre, at the age of 93.
Born in Hillsdale, New Brunswick, on November 14, 1932, Hilda was the daughter of the late John and Jennie (Gray) Tabor, and the beloved wife of the late James Meehan.
Hilda was kind, loving, and the true matriarch of her little family. She worked for many years as a baker and housekeeper, always ensuring that her sons never went without. A proud mother and grandmother, she found her greatest joy in caring for others and being of service whenever she could. Her life was guided by a strong and steadfast faith.
She will be deeply missed by all those whose life she touched.
Hilda will live on in the hearts of her devoted sons: Calvin Meehan and Andrew Meehan, both of Sussex; her cherished grandchildren, Jillian Meehan, Colton Meehan, and Zachary Meehan; and her treasured great-grandchildren: Patrick Stapleford, Riley Meehan, and Mason Meehan. She is also lovingly remembered by her sister, Doreen Pierce of McAdam, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Hilda was predeceased by her sisters, Olga Snider and Marjorie Tabor, and by her brothers, Russell (Isabella), William (Dianne), Warren (Mary), Ashley, Glendon, and Howard.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex. At Hilda’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. A graveside service will take place in Trinity Cemetery in the spring.
