Obituary of Juanita Keys
It is with deep sadness that the family of Juanita Marilyn Ann Keys announce her passing at the Saint John Regional Hospital on January 18, 2026 at the age of 69.
Born in Sussex on January 18, 1957; she was the daughter of the late Austin and Mary (Allaby) Johnston.
She was the proud mother of two sons, Dallas and Colin, and a devoted grandmother to Owen and Bradley. She never missed a chance to show off new pictures or share stories about what her boys and grandsons were up to, speaking of them with unmistakable pride and love.
She was the baby of a family of twelve children and remained very close with her family throughout her life, especially her beloved sissy, Betty, who held a special place in her heart.
She was a loyal and dedicated friend, maintaining many close friendships over the years. Those who were fortunate enough to be part of her circle knew they could always count on her—steady, caring, and true.
She had a deep affection for her animals, most recently her beloved dog, Duke, who was a constant companion and source of comfort.
Hard work never intimidated her. Whether she was mowing the lawn, putting in wood, or shoveling snow, she was always willing to take on the challenge and get the job done.
She was known for her dry sense of humor and her remarkable ability to remember and tell a joke like no other, always delivering the punchline with perfect timing, like a true comedian.
She was most content at home, enjoying the warmth of her wood heat, watching television, and relaxing with her dog by her side. Those quiet moments brought her the greatest peace.
She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
Juanita will live on in the hearts of her children: Dallas (Angela) and Colin (Sarah); her grandchildren: Owen and Bradley; her sisters: Evelyna MacKay (Stewart), Dionne Yeomans and Betty Bettle (Paul); her brothers: Humphrey Johnston (Janie) and Leverne Johnston (Gail); as well as several nieces and nephews.
Along with her parents, she is predeceased by her brothers: Karll, Cyrus, Travis and Anglin, her infant brother, Gorman and by her sister, Winnie Parlee.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive. A gathering will be held in the Wallace Community Chapel on Thursday, January 22, 2026 from 4-7pm.
Donations in memory of Juanita may be made to the SPCA or the donor’s choice. Condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com.
