Obituary of Kevin Richard Nixon
It is with deep sadness that the family of Kevin Richard Nixon announce his sudden passing on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at his residence. Born in Saint John, NB on January 9, 1969, Kevin was a son of Gary and Sheila (Dobson) Nixon.
Kevin’s childhood was spent causing a ruckus, always keeping his parents on their toes. As he grew, he continued to bring excitement into the lives of everyone he knew. If he wasn’t cracking a joke. He was telling a story about his many childhood visits to his beloved Grampy Allan and his cousins in Bath.
As a young adult, he built his own mini home with the help of his Dad, Gary, which he lived in for years, and worked on many vehicle builds with his friends, including a very loved Willys Jeep. If he wasn't working on his own projects, he was helping his Dad or friends with theirs.
Kevin pursued many career paths, loving to keep busy. He went to NBCC Woodstock to become a dairy herdsman; kept bees and helped to run a U-Pick. In his twenties, he moved to Edmonton and worked in a diesel mechanics shop, in property management, and as an arborist. Ever the tinkerer, he didn’t let his workplace accident stop him from staying productive, pursuing farm-work, nuisance wildlife management, and auto body repairs, one of his proudest projects being his “Black Truck”, a 1977 GMC Sierra Classic.
Whether it was hunting, trapping, farming, home renovations, mechanics, Kevin did it all. He always had to have many projects on the go; or at least be workshopping one of his "million-dollar-ideas". A true jack of all trades, he was always willing to give advice, whether it was solicited or not.
Kevin was a loving father who always brought his kids on his many adventures, whether it was snowplowing, fishing, cutting firewood, or mudding (& getting the family minivan stuck in mud.) He was always going out of his way to bring more fun to their days by making groomed sledding trails while plowing the driveway, painting a dinky car track for the dining room table, or making up parodies to children's books during bedtime stories.
Kevin will be lovingly remembered by his children: Allan Nixon (Bailey McFadden) of Fredericton, NB, Emily Nixon (Matthew Daley) of Penobsquis, NB, Margaret Nixon (MacKenzie Hayes) of Fredericton, NB, and Julia Nixon of Penobsquis, NB; his parents: Gary and Sheila (Dobson) Nixon; his siblings: Steve Nixon of New Maryland, NB, Tracey Nixon (Richard Steeves) of Lethbridge, AB, and Jill Nixon of Howe Island, ON. Kevin is also survived by several nieces, nephews, many cousins, and his Aunt Phyllis.
Kevin was predeceased by his beloved grandparents, Allan and Helen Nixon; and Russell and Margaret Dobson.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where a drop-in visitation will take place on Friday, February 13th from 5-8 pm. A private celebration of life will take place in the summer.
Donations in memory of Kevin may be made to the Kennebecasis Watershed Restoration Committee, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com.
