Obituary of Jim Palmer

James “Jim” Frederick Palmer passed away on February 2, 2026, at Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sussex, New Brunswick.

Jim will be remembered for his love of dogs and horses, and for the time he enjoyed playing cards with family and friends. He was also an avid hunter, appreciated the outdoors and its traditions, and was a longtime member of the Auxiliary RCMP. In his early years, he was a volunteer firefighter.

Jim is survived by his children: Bill Palmer (Wendy) and Colleen Jochim (Mike), and his grandchildren: Meghan Sears (Scott), Ryan Palmer (Alex), and Scott Palmer (Rebecca).

He is also survived by his stepchildren: Chris Grant (Bev), Stephen Gould (Vicki), and Pam McDermott (Hugo), along with several step grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim was predeceased by his former spouse Sylvia Palmer and two infant daughters, his longtime partner June Gould, sons-in-law John Gransden and Richard Gowman, and stepdaughter, Tammy Walker.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home (34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB) from where a visitation will take place on Sunday, February 8 from 2-4pm. A private burial will take place in the spring.
