Obituary of Ann Sharp

Ann was born in Sussex on July 30, 1938. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Elizabeth (Hourihan) Whitters and the wife of the late Arthur Sharp who passed away August 2, 1996. Ann graduated from Sussex Composite High School in 1956. Upon completion of High School, Ann was employed at the Millstream Creamery for 13½ years. She then went on to work at the Sussex Cheese and Butter and Glendale Homes before arriving at Buckley & Nixon where she applied her accounting skills for another 20 years before retiring in 1997. In 1973, their beloved son Raymond joined them to complete their loving family.

Ann will be remembered as a kind, loving and giving soul with a terrific sense of humor. She was a woman of enormous inner strength and unwavering faith. A wife who loved unconditionally, a mother who unselfishly sacrificed, a daughter who was extremely devoted, a sister who encouraged and supported, an aunt who loved fiercely and a friend whom you could always depend upon.

Ann lived her life for enjoyment. She was an avid golfer and so proud of her not only one, but two “holes-in-one” at the Sussex Golf Club. Ann took great pleasure in attending events at the Sussex Seniors Centre where she played bingo, rummoli and loved listening to the fiddle music. She also looked forward to the Sussex Corner Senior music nights. Ann found joy in the simple things in life like going on day trips to Fundy or St. Martins, sitting on her back deck to watch for and admire the cardinals that frequented her feeder and she thoroughly enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Ann is survived by her brothers: Ed Whitters and Fred Whitters of Sussex; her sisters-in-law: Diane Whitters of Sussex, Therese Whitters of St. Stephen and Frances “Nan” Sharp of Sussex, as well as many nieces and nephews and a special cousin-in-law Paula Murray of Ontario.

Ann is predeceased by her husband Arthur Sharp and son Raymond Sharp; sisters: Mary and her husband Ralph Doyle, Theresa and her husband Frank Connors, Bonnie and her husband Neville Huggard; brothers: Murray Whitters, John and his wife Bonnie Whitters and Frank Whitters; sisters-in-law: Dorie Whitters, Sybil and her husband Gerald Fowler, Anna and her husband Doug Patterson; brother in law: George Sharp, as well as a special cousin, David Murray.

Mrs. Rita Ann Sharp of Sussex passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on February 10, 2026 at the age of 87.

Ann’s presence in our lives will be forever missed, but each of us is a stronger and better human being for having been touched by her warmth and spirit.
