Obituary of Talmage MacLean
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Mr. Talmage Everett MacLean of Sussex, announce his passing at the Orchard View Special Care Home on February 15, 2026 at the age of 72.
Born in Sussex on July 11, 1953, he was the son of the late Arthur and Eretta (Keirstead) McLean.
He will be remembered as a hardworking and dedicated man who took great pride in providing for his family. Over the years, he built a life defined by perseverance, quiet strength, and an unwavering work ethic. He spent nine years working for Clarks, he also spent nine years working in the woods, where he felt deeply connected to the land and the simple rewards of a hard day’s work. He would then spend the next 23 years working for the mines until his retirement. Never one to shy away from honest labour.
Above all else, his greatest joy and proudest role was being a family man, his grandson, Noah, was truly the light of his life.
He leaves behind a legacy of dedication, strength, and deep love for his family that will be carried forward and remembered always.
Talmage will live on in the hearts of his loving wife, Elva (Sharpe) MacLean; his step daughter, Eleanor McFarlane (Bob) of Petitcodiac; his step sons: Aaron Trites (Natasha) of Fort McMurray and Scott Trites (Charmin O'Donnell) of Erb Settlement; his brother, Doug McLean of Belleisle Creek; his sisters: Shirley Lavoie of Sussex and Flora Murphy of Sussex; his grandchildren: Michaella (Emily), Marissa, Malayna, Noah and Joshua; his great grandsons: Bennett and Dawson Stackleton; his special nephew, Larry Jr.; his sisters-in-law: Marlene Bellows, Jeannie McLean, Myrna Sharpe, Evelyn Fanjoy, Eva Stewart, Elsie Bowland (Donnie); his brothers-in-law: Gordon Sharpe (Norma) and Lloyd Sharpe (Brenda); as well as many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, Tal was predeceased by his brothers: Ron McLean (Doreen), Bill MacLean, Walter McLean and Jack McLean (Almeda); his sisters: Anna Cunningham (Norman), Janet Habib (Jim) (George), and Eleanor Keirstead (Walter); his brothers-in-law: Sonny Sharpe, Larry Sharpe (Alegra) and Bill Stewart and by his sisters-in-law: Diane McLean and Edith Wright.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). At Tal’s request there will be a time to gather with family and friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026 at 2:00pm at the Timberland Motel and Restaurant (12763 Route 114, Penobsquis, NB E4G 2X4).
