Obituary of Georgina Perkins

On Wednesday, February 18, 2026, Georgina Margaret Perkins (Tabor) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Georgina was born on July 19, 1939, in Wards Creek, New Brunswick. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, great grandmother, cherished sister, aunt, and loyal friend whose warmth and kindness touched everyone who knew her.

Georgina will be deeply missed by her daughters Karen Perkins, Kim (Vince) Cummings; her grandchildren Kristopher (Katie) Tingley, Vanessa (Marcus) McIntyre, and Maria Cummings; and her great-grandchildren Anna and Luke Tingley. She will also be fondly remembered by her brother-in-Law Ron Perkins, Sister-in-law Sybil Dolan-Perkins, many nieces, nephews and friends. She also leaves behind her beloved fur baby Molly and Grand fur babies: Sully, Vera, Maverick , Birdie and Mango.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Elsie Tabor; her beloved husband, Lloyd Perkins (1989); her daughter Katherine Tingley (2023); and her son-in-law Donald Tingley (2024). She is also predeceased by her brothers Ronald, Reginald (June), Norman (Helen), Lorne (Vivienne), and her sister Violet (Angus) Cunningham. As well as her brother in laws: Kenneth (Frances), Roy (Anne), George (Helen) , Donald (Helen),Lawrence and sister in laws;  Florence (Bayard),Marjorie (Stanley), Doreen (Bud) and her special friend and sister in law Vondelle Perkins.

In 1961, Georgina married the love of her life, Lloyd. Together they built a life grounded in love, family, and faith. After losing her husband at an early age, Georgina showed incredible strength and resilience, learning to navigate a new chapter of life while continuing to raise and support her daughters and later embracing the joy of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

To many who loved her most, she was simply known as Georgie, Aunt Georgie, Nanny, or Nanny P.  Being a grandmother and great-grandmother was one of her greatest joys and proudest roles. She created a home filled with comfort, warmth, and unconditional love. Whether it was sharing stories, offering advice, or simply being present, she made each family member feel special and deeply loved.

Georgina had a sparkling sense of humor and a sharp wit that could brighten any room. She was funny, clever, and delightfully stubborn — qualities that made her both memorable and endearing to all who knew her. Her laughter, playful teasing, and the occasional mischievous remark will be fondly remembered by her family and friends.

Georgina found joy in life’s simple and meaningful moments. She loved working on puzzles, baking for those she loved, knitting, attending church, and enjoying a good cup of hot tea. She will be remembered for her strength, her quiet generosity, and the deep love she held for her family.

A special dedication is shared for her daughter Karen. Karen spent her life by her mother’s side, especially in the last several years, providing constant care, support, and companionship. She drove her everywhere and made sure she continued to experience the world and the things she loved. As a family, we are deeply grateful to Karen for giving Nanny the life we always hoped she would have — one filled with love, dignity, and connection.

Her legacy lives on through the family she cherished, the laughter she shared, and the many lives she touched.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside drive, Sussex NB. There will be no visitation at her request. A funeral service will be held on Monday, February 23rd at 11:00 am at the Sussex Baptist Church located on 24 Church Avenue. The interment will be later in the Spring.

The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Staff at Saint John Regional Hospital for their compassionate care, and to the wonderful doctors and nurses who supported Georgina and her family.
