It is with a heavy heart I write this after hearing of Krista's passing through a mutual former coworker from back in our days as Interventionists. Krista had such a passion for her work with kids and families, it was inspiring. And she had a presence and a heart that made you feel comfortable, calm, joyful. Kris and I shared many milestone - we both survived our crazy teenage years to eventually overcome them and complete our University Degrees together. Having children literally saved her from herself! And Kris saved me by encouraging me to apply to University where I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree with not much more than a grade eight education! Kris believed in me when others (including myself) didn’t! I’m not sure what road I would have travelled if it wasn’t for her encouragement! Even though we lost touch for many years I never forgot how she helped me find my way despite all the obstacles . I’m so glad we got to share some time in the last decade reminiscing about the past - at first it was painful for me “going back there” but it was healing for her at the time and eventually some of those memories made us belly laugh so hard - just like when we were kids! I’’ll miss our chats, Kris was a link to my childhood that I’d be terrified to experience again, but somehow we pulled each other through it. Kris will always hold a special place in my heart and I’m glad I got to share part of my life with her - I just wish it was more! Love you always! Shannon

I had the pleasure of meeting Krista through a mutual friend and immediately I felt like I knew her my whole life. We had great conversations over the years for which I am grateful. I do not remember what course but we were both in trouble together. We were awarded the honour of peeling potatoes for an eternity. I still have an old photo from high school with a flower behind your ear. We had fun together and for that I thank you.

I had the true pleasure of working alongside Kris and I will always be grateful for the time we shared. She was a remarkable Educational Assistant whose love for children was unmistakable. The care, patience, and kindness she showed each day made a lasting impact on so many lives — and on her colleagues as well. Even though my time working beside her was short, it was enough to see the incredible heart she brought into the classroom. She made children feel safe, valued, and deeply cared for.
