Obituary of Edith Helmsmueller
It is with deep sadness that the family of Edith Helmsmueller announces her passing, which occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on Tuesday, March 3, 2026. Born in Goldenstedt, Germany on April 14, 1944, she was a daughter of the late Lili (Diesselberg) and late step-father, Eric Wigger.
Edith will live on in the hearts of her loving husband, Dieter of Lower Millstream, NB; her children: Rudiger Helmsmueller (Kelly Trifts) of Saint John, NB, Renate Young of Moncton, NB, Margarete Helmsmueller (Gary Melanson) of Grande Digue, NB, Volker Helmsmueller of Lower Millstream, and Lynda Hayes (Jerry) of Nelson, BC; her grandchildren: Robert (Phyliss, mother of Robert), Lydia, Evan (Nikki), Helena (Gina, mother of Helena), and Elyas (Natalie, mother of Elyas); her great grandchildren: Jasper and Stella; and her sister, Helga Bloemer (Ludger); and Helga’s children, Kristin and Matthis and their families of Gifhorn, Germany.
Edith was predeceased by her mother, Lili and her step-father, Eric Wigger.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Sussex Health Centre and the Saint John Regional Hospital for their compassionate and professional care of Edith.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), from where a service celebrating Edith’s life will take place on Tuesday, March 10 at 11:00am.
