Obituary of Barbara Williams

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Barbara Ann Williams announces her passing at the Sussex Health Centre on April 10, 2026, at the age of 78.

Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, on August 17, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Oris and Ida (Smith) Brooks, and the beloved wife of the late Claude Williams, with whom she shared 57 wonderful years of marriage before his passing in 2022. Claude was truly her best friend, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and simple joys.

Barbara found her greatest happiness in her family. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her pride and joy, and she cherished every moment spent with them. She had a love for life’s simple pleasures — a warm cup of tea, a sweet treat, and the thrill of finding a good deal, especially while shopping on Temu.

Her door was always open, and visitors were always welcomed with a kind heart and a cup of tea. She loved and cared deeply for everyone she met. A quiet and gentle soul, Barbara was the kind of person who would give whatever she had to someone in need, never asking for anything in return.

She and Claude enjoyed many quiet moments together, often sitting at Dairy Queen sharing ice cream and watching the world go by. At home, Barbara could often be found on her deck near her bird feeders, delighting in the company of birds and squirrels, especially the blue jays she would lovingly talk to. It was in these simple, peaceful moments that she found true contentment.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by her loving children: Shelly Moss (Andrew), Danny Williams (Jacquie), Sean Williams (Laurie), and Samantha Cromwell (Keith); her stepdaughter, Leslie Hemming (Ron); her brother, Jack Brooks (Pat); her brother-in-law, Fran Williams; her sister-in-law, Freda Brooks; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Barbara also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Dylan Moss and McKelan Williams; her step-grandchildren: Chris Atkinson, Hayley Atkinson, Nataly Cromwell, Jackson Cromwell, Jason Gaunce, and Jillian Savage (Jeremy); her great-grandson, Oliver Moss Newman; and her step-great-grandchildren: Brody Vanhorne and Evi Savage.

Along with her parents and her beloved husband Claude, Barbara was predeceased by her brother, Walter Brooks; her grandchildren: Ashton Moss and Kyla Moss, and her great-granddaughter, Lydia Moss Newman.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, a graveside service will be held at Riverbank Cemetery on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at 11:00am
