Obituary of Marjorie Wilson

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Marjorie Helena Wilson announce her passing at the Sussex Health Centre on April 22, 2026, at the age of 93.

Born on October 12, 1932, in Saint John, New Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Purvis and Gertrude (Arthurs) Nichols, and the beloved wife of the late Walter “Raymond” Wilson, who passed away in 2023.

Marjorie found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved bird watching, tending to her flowers and garden, cuddling with her cat, Bunny, visiting with friends, and enjoying a good shopping trip. In her earlier years, she worked at Canadian Tire and spent many years working alongside her husband in their various small businesses.

She will live on in the hearts of her daughter, Debra Murtagh and her husband David of Carsonville; her son, Steven Wilson and his wife Joanne of Quispamsis; her sisters: Gloria Ross of Saint John and Sharon Case and her husband Brian of Saint John; and her brother, Douglas Nichols and his wife Eileen of Saint John. She is also lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: Matthew Murtagh (Melissa), Jennifer Murtagh (Randy), Alec Thorne (Taylor) and Lenny Drew (Robyn); her great-granddaughter, Gemma; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her loving husband, Marjorie was predeceased by her daughter, Kimberley Wilson (1973), and her brother, Charles Nichols.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex (506-433-1176). In keeping with Marjorie’s wishes, all arrangements will be held privately.

Donations in Marjorie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, or a charity of the donor’s choice. Donations and personal condolences may be made at wallacefuneralhome.com.

The family would like to express their deepest gratitude to Dr. Pillay and the nurses of the Sussex Health Centre East Wing for the compassionate care shown to Marjorie during her stay. Special thanks to Patty and Daryl, whose visits and conversations never failed to brighten Mom’s day, and to the Extra-Mural nurses for their exceptional care while she was at home. Your kindness will never be forgotten.
