Obituary of Dana Eugene Lynch

It is with deep sadness that the family of Dana Eugene Lynch announces his passing on Friday, April 24, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Saint John, NB on November 23, 1961, Dana was a son of the late Arthur and Evelyn (Robinson) Lynch.

Dana was born in Saint John until life and a longing for the “big city” led him to Toronto, where he worked in the laundry industry for 20-25 years. He then headed out west for a season and then returned home to Saint John where he worked for Unifirst in Sussex. Eventually, he changed careers and became the food intake manager at the Sussex Sharing Club – a job he dearly loved, along with those he worked with.

Dana was a “big city boy”, oftentimes feeling as though Sussex was too small. He would laugh at Joanne when she spoke of plans to go to the “city” (Saint John), quipping that Saint John is NOT a city. However, after a while, he climatized to small town living. He confirmed his change of heart by purchasing a pair of rubber boots so that he could spend time in the garden, something else he lived and loved to do.

Among his many loves, Dana was a diehard Habs fan. He is without a doubt cheering them on, hoping they’ll bring the Stanley Cup home.

Dana will be lovingly remembered by his partner, Joanne Parlee; his siblings: Terry Lynch (Nora) of Fredericton, NB and Pauline Merritt of Saint John, NB; his sisters-in-law, Janice Morrison (Harvey Akerley), Janice Lynch, and Phyillis Lynch; and his fur friend, “Lucy”. Dana is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank everyone for their thoughtfulness, their many prayers and especially their presence during Dana’s illness and in these past weeks.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will take place on Friday, May 15 from 11am-1pm. A celebration of Dana’s life will take place immediately following at 1:00pm from the Wallace Community Chapel. A reception will be held at Dana's home at 65 Cougle Rd, Sussex Corner following the burial.

Donations in memory of Dana may be made to the Sussex Sharing Club, The Heart & Stroke Foundation, or to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com.
