Jim Scribner

Obituary of Jim Scribner

It is with deep sadness that the family of James “Jim” Andrew Scribner announces his passing on Thursday, May 7, 2026, at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Saint John on April 22, 1945, Jim was a son of the late George and Jean (Brown) Scribner.

Dad met the love of his life when they were 12. They started dating at 16 and married when he was 19. They built a life together with love and 4 children later their family became their greatest joy. Their family went on to have 8 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. This made for a lot of birthdays and cake!

He had several careers, but his passion was carpentry and furniture making which has provided us all with many treasures to enjoy for generations.

He and mom loved to spend vacations on PEI and tried to spend every Anniversary at Kings Landing.

His biggest hobby was food. So much so he had a saying, "I love to eat more than I love to fight, and I love to fight!" He also played the fiddle and wanted to try the banjo. He loved to collect hats and had one for every occasion.

He was a man that filled the room with laughter with that warped sense of humor, most of which would fly right over Gerties (mom) head. His tea pot was always on for all that walked through the door.

He a big man with a big heart and had lots of love for all. He always felt he was blessed by God and he was!

Jim will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Linda; his children: Robert Scribner (Chantale), Andrew Scribner (Chris), Kevin Scribner (Sue), and Kim Veysey (Albert); his grandchildren: Josh (Melissa), Laura (Todd), Sonya (Winston), Ashley (Cody), Madison, Corey, Emilie, and Gabe; his great grandchildren: Kalylah, Rye-Elle, Feira, Sauno, Glenn, Alexus, Denver, Desmond, and Jack; his brothers: Wendell Scribner, David Scribner (Sandra), Gary Scribner, Brian Scribner (Doreen); and his sisters: Emma Jean Lizotte and Brenda Simpson. Jim is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his parents-in-law, Herbert and Margaret Souther.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). In keeping with Jim’s wishes, all events will be held privately.
