Chris Hansen

Obituary of Chris Hansen

It is with profound sadness that the family announces the sudden passing of Christopher John Hansen, who was born on February 5, 1970, to Sandra (Seeds) Hansen and Allan Hansen.

Chris grew up in Saint John and worked as an electrician with Saint John Shipbuilding. He met Angela Kaiser on spring break from Dalhousie University in 1989 and they were married in 1992. They moved to Penobsquis, so Chris could commute to Saint John and Angela to  Moncton. They eventually opened their own business, the Sussex Audiological Centre, in 1995, as Chris studied for his board certification as a hearing instrument specialist when the shipyard closed.

They brought up three wonderful children who Chris loved with all his heart, Simon (El) Hansen, Joshua Hansen, and Matthew Hansen. In addition to his love for his family, he loved to play guitar and played every chance he could with his best friend since grade 3, Colin Robinson. In the summer, there were many jam sessions when Colin would come home from Alberta with Peter Perry and Dimitri Papadopoulos.

Chris was a Christian and wore his love for God on his sleeve. He was always willing to talk to anyone about his faith and Christ's teachings. Chris's death will leave a hole in all of our hearts, including his father, Allan Hansen, of Saint John, his brothers: Jeffrey Hansen of Saint John, Randy Hansen of Ontario, and Lawrence Hansen of Ontario, as well as hundreds of others who were blessed to have known him.

Chris was predeceased by his mother, Sandra Hansen.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex. A Celebration of Chris’s Life will be held from St. Paul’s United Church on Friday, May 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
