I had the privilege to work with Shirley for many years, and got to know Shirley, as she was indeed an open book. Whatever job was in front of her, she did it to the best of her ability. She gained the respect of all she worked with, including the Jamaican workers, who would sometimes scold Shirley for her language.
I will miss the early morning text on my birthday, every year. Despite referring to me a boss Joe as opposed to son Joe on many occasions, there was never a doubt who was in charge.
She will be missed but never forgotten

To the Lavoie and McLean families,
I am sorry to hear of Shirley's passing. I would often see her in Sussex when I would be shopping. Shirley was a hard worker for sure. We grew up in neighboring communities and our families were friends. RIP Shirley.
