Obituary of Royce Snider
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Royce Hayes Snider, in his 96th year, on July 4, 2026, at the Kiwanis Nursing Home in Sussex, New Brunswick.
Royce was born at Head of Millstream on November 2, 1929, to the late Herbert and Amelia (Hayes) Snider.
He is survived by his daughters, Louise Snider (Dan Boismier), Shelly Bronnum-White (Trent), and Sharon Huggins (Bain); his sons, Herbert (Tina) and Wayne. He will be greatly missed by his 14 grandchildren: Lana, Justin, Megan, Julia, Liam, Sena, Bryton, Haiden, Kiana, Ethan, Hannah, Sarah, Helen, and Isaac; and by his three great-grandchildren, Sylus, Jaxon, and Alton. Royce is also survived by his sister, Velma Cosman (Bertram), and his brothers: David (Mary), Lawrence (Mary), and Eldon (Maureen).
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marjorie Anne Snider (Steele); his son, Leslie; his daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Hunt; his son-in-law, Brian Bronnum along with his sister-in-law’s Carol Knox Porter and Ann McLaughlin.
After completing Grade 8 at the one-room schoolhouse in Head of Millstream, Dad began working on his uncle's farm. He later spent a short time as a barber in Saint John and worked in construction in Toronto before returning home to work in the woods. In 1946, he purchased his first truck, marking the beginning of a lifelong career in the logging and trucking industries. He remained an independent logging contractor and local trucking operator until 2021, when he finally surrendered his Class 1 driver's license.
To say that Dad loved the woods would be an understatement. He took tremendous pride in caring for the forest and was recognized as the SNB Woodlot Owner of the Year in 1995. He was also a founding member of Kingsco Transportation in 1984.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Katie Oliver of Ambient Home Care. And to the doctors, nurses, and staff of the Sussex Health Centre and Kiwanis Nursing Home for the compassionate care they provided since Royce's admission on July 3, 2025. Their kindness and dedication will always be remembered.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) and will be held privately at this time. However, there will be a Celebration of Royce’s life announced at a later date.
