It is with deep sadness that the family announces the passing of Wanda Lillian Morrell (Mercer), who passed away peacefully at her home in Sussex, NB on July 19, 2026, at the age of 64.  She was the daughter of the late Murray and Helen “Nellie” (Marks) Mercer.

Wanda is survived by her common law husband Perry Churchill; stepdaughter Samantha Churchill of St. John’s, NL; siblings: Carolyn Webster of Sussex, NB, Russell (Hilda) Mercer of Calgary, AB, Rose (Francis) Arsenault of Moncton, NB, Kim Tays of Hampton, NB, Sherry Tays of Hampton, NB, Michael Tays of Fort McMurray, AB and Jason Tays of Hampton, NB. She shared a special bond with her niece Amanda, her nephew Jeffery, as well as Jeffery’s children, Fionna & Dyllan. She is also survived by several other nieces and nephews.  Besides her parents, Wanda was also predeceased by her brother Chester Mercer.

Wanda was a woman of immense kindness, humor, and unwavering strength for her family and friends. Throughout her life, she shared her artistic talents and warm spirit through her work as a Hairstylist, as well as her time with Nalcor Energy in Churchill Falls and Charm Diamond Centres in Sussex.

Those who knew Wanda will best remember her creative passion for crafts, her incredible festive eye for decorating during the holidays, her love for music, and her cherished times playing cards with loved ones. She brought warmth, light, and laughter into every room she entered, leaving behind cherished memories that will be held forever in the hearts of those who loved her.

May her warmth and light continue to shine in the memories she leaves behind.
