It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Heidi Annette Graham (Klingenberg). After a courageous, hard-fought and determined fight against cancer, surrounded by her loving family, Heidi passed peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on August 1st, 2026, only a couple weeks after celebrating her 40th birthday.

Heidi is survived by her loving husband, Mackenzie, and children, Felicity, Felix, and Senora; her parents, Armin and Agathe Klingenberg; her sisters: Kristina (Mike) Rushton of Keaau, Hawaii, and their children, Heidi and Naomi; Rebecca (Micha) Jopp of Jordan Mountain, NB, and their children, Elsa, Irina, and Vivian; her parents-in-law, Gary and Vicki Graham; her sister-in-law, Kourtney (Dan) Rice, and their children, Avery, Sawyer, Elliot, and Penelope; and her brother-in-law, Kaleb (Maegan) Graham. Heidi is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Heidi was predeceased by her grandparents and her uncle, Rudy Schmidt.

Heidi was born July 10th, 1986, and grew up on Jordan Mountain, New Brunswick. Many fond memories of the mountain life include various forts, the tree house, garden eating, baking, etc. Early on she had an interest in cooking and at the age of nine was baking bread and selling it to the neighbours. She also baked enormous chocolate chip cookies to sell to classmates at the high school.

Following high school, Heidi studied culinary arts at Holland College, PEI and graduated in 2006. Post graduation, she yearned to travel and learn from various kitchens. These culinary adventures included Emerald lake, Nantucket, Montreal, Paris, Italy, Vietnam and Ukraine.

Upon returning home, she completed her Bachelor of Nursing degree, and soon after her little sister convinced her that 3CN/general surgery at SJRH would be a great experience, and so began Heidi’s nursing career at 3CN. During days off, she continued her love of cooking and would often host multiple course dinners for her colleagues with mouthwatering gourmet food.

Before leaving for her Paris trip, she worked at Gasthof Bavarian Restaurant where she met Mackenzie Graham for the first time in 2006. This sparked a friendship over the years that led to multiple outdoor adventures of hiking, canoeing, gourmet fire dinners, snail mail and care packages.  In Christmas 2019 they became engaged, and Heidi took a leap of faith and followed Mackenzie out to northern Saskatchewan and married January 27th, 2020. During their time in Saskatchewan the adventures continued, and Heidi quickly bonded with the northern community, using meals to make deep connections.  Working in the emergency department, she impacted both staff and patients with her care and humour. She couldn’t wait to be a mom and in 2021, they welcomed their first child, Felicity.

Returning to NB, they found a place in Wards Creek that became a wonderful home, and they welcomed two more children soon after. Heidi loved her gardening, the creek, waterside beach, and bringing friends and family together for meals. She always put great thought and detail into her kids’ birthday cakes and sadly the birthdays she celebrated with them were far too few.

Heidi will always be remembered for her long, beautiful red hair, a hearty laugh with a big smile, a vibrant spirit, and a great sense of humor.  She had a great love for Christ, family and her children. Throughout her intense cancer battle, her love for God never wavered, and neither did her hope and optimism to win her battle. In her final words she spoke that she may never understand why she was taken but hoped it would not divert her children from Christ.  

The family would like to give special thanks to the physicians at the Toronto General Hospital and Princess Margaret Cancer Centre for their exceptional care and kindness towards Heidi. 

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex 506) 433-1176. The family will host a celebration of Heidi’s life at 3:00pm on Wednesday, August 5, at Gasthof Old Bavarian Restaurant (1130 Knightville Road, Knightville, NB).
