Obituary of Darlene McPhee
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176. Visitation will be on August 25th, 2026 from 4:30 – 6:30 at the Penobsquis Community Enrichment Centre and service at 7 pm.
It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that we announce the passing of Theresa Darlene McPhee (Buchanan) after a courageous, hard fought and determined fight against cancer, surrounded by her loving family. Darlene passed away peacefully at the Sussex Health Centre on August 6th, 2026.
She was a loving mother to sons: Derrick (Jennifer), David, and Jason and a proud grandmother to Emma, Chloe, and Malaki McPhee.
She also leaves behind her brother, Ronald of Kentucky; her sisters-in-law: Darlene (Peter) Black and Carol Long and by her brother-in-law, Ronald (Rhonda) McPhee; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Born in Sussex on September 30,1956; she was the daughter of the late Chester and Theresa Rose (Moore) Buchanan.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her loving husband, Gerry (2022); two grandsons: Mark and Braxton; her father and mother-in-law, Howe and Joyce McPhee and by her brother-in-law, Murray Long.
Darlene was a kind, quiet, petite woman and was a stay-at-home mom but brought warmth and love into our lives. She leaves behind cherished memories that will be held forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
She enjoyed art, crafts, cooking, baking, flowers, nature, cardinals and loved butterflies. Darlene loved her dogs Tucker & Buddy who were always by her side.
She has spent most of her life in the Sussex area but also has lived in Oromocto, Alberta, and British Columbia.
