Obituary of Johann Krause

“A life well-lived, a harvest well-earned.”

It is with deep sadness that the family of Johann “John” Krause announces his passing on Thursday, August 13, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital. Born in Leninpol, Kyrgyzstan on October 5, 1949, Johann was a son of the late Peter and Frida Krause.

Johann Krause “Opa” was a man of immense strength, quiet humility, and dedication. A lifelong farmer, he spent his days caring for the land with hardworking hands, taking great pride in the honest work of tending to the fields alongside his wife, Elisabeth, building their plentiful and successful berry/vegetable farm. When the day’s work was done, he found his greatest peace on the water, casting a line and enjoying the quiet beauty of nature. Above all his achievements, Johann’s greatest harvest and proudest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband and father, and grandfather who anchored his home with unconditional love and wisdom. His legacy of hard work, quiet days by the water, and deep devotion to those he loved will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Johann will be lovingly remembered by his sons: George Krause (Natalie) of Germany, and their children, Julian, Alina, and Lea, and Walter Krause (Rita) of Plumweseep, NB, and their children, Michael, Jessica, and Jenna; his brothers: Waldemar Krause (Anna) of Edmonton, AB and Edward Krause (Elza) of Edmonton, AB; and his sisters: Lora Klassen of Germany, Natalie Koop (David) of Germany, Palina Koop, also of Germany, and Tonja Weber (Henry) of BC; and his companion Maria Klassen. Johann is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, Johann was predeceased by his loving wife, Elisabeth; and his brother, Andre Krause.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176), from where a visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 19 from 1-2pm. A celebration of life will take place following the visitation at 2:00pm.

Donations in memory of Johann may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com

“He has cast his final line on earth and is now resting by the peaceful waters, where the fish are always biting.”
