Obituary of Feli Joan Charlene Wallace

It is with great sadness that the family of Feli Joan Charlene Wallace announces her passing at the Sussex Health Centre, Sussex, NB, on Sunday, August 30, 2026. Born in Sussex, NB on July 13, 1949, Feli was a daughter of the late Gordon and Ruby (Critchley) Watters.

Feli grew up in Apohaqui. While just a little girl, she started visiting her neighbours, Jens and Feli Miller. Soon after, she began staying overnight, and eventually, living permanently with them. The path between both houses was worn down with all the trips back and forth, playing with her sisters and brother. She was number four of eight children.

Feli attended Apohaqui School for grades 1-8 and went on to graduate from Sussex High. After graduating, she enrolled in nurse’s training in Saint John, becoming a practical nurse (now known as L.P.N.).

In 1969, Feli gave birth to a baby named Alana. She was a beautiful little girl, but with many health issues.

While in Saint John, she met and fell in love with a radio personality, Bob Wallace. Bob’s radio job took them to Nova Scotia. After a short time, they moved again, this time to Ottawa. Feli went to work with the Canada Revenue Department, and later with Veteran’s Affairs. She learned French and became fairly fluent and travelled all over Canada for her work.

After a few years with Veteran’s Affairs, headquarters moved to Charlottetown, PEI. Feli transferred with them and their life on PEI began. They made their home in Mt. Stewart, making friends and enjoying amateur theatre – Bob acting and Feli helping wherever she was needed.

Then, in 1986, after years together and a little one on the way, they decided to get married. Shortly after, they welcomed Ian Ira into their lives. Four and a half years later, they were overjoyed to present Ian with a little brother, Robert Bruce. During this time, they moved into Charlottetown where they continued with their love for amateur theatre.

Feli retired from Veteran’s Affairs in 2007 and the decision to sell their house and move home to New Brunswick came quickly. They settled in Lower Millstream, making friends with all their neighbours. She was so happy that now she could join in with all the celebration gatherings, enjoying time with her mother and remaining siblings, as she had suffered the loss of three sisters and her daughter over the years.

The following year, in 2008, she joined her mother and Rosalee when they accompanied her sister, Carolann and husband, Gerry, to Scotland for their daughter, Laura and Grant’s wedding. It was an amazing trip that included Ireland and England as well. Feli was overjoyed to visit her best friend, RoseMary while in England. This was certainly one of the many highlights of her trip.

Feli was well-read and very intelligent, but most of all, she was a gentle soul with a big heart. Everyone that knew her felt it as she was so kind and thoughtful. She never complained and hated to ask for any favours for fear of being a burden. Even in her last days and hours, she hated to complain of pain or any discomfort, not wanting to be too much trouble for nurses and staff. She never missed saying “thank you”, followed by a “dear”, “darlin’”, or “sweetie”.

First, a daughter and sister, then wife, mother, and grandmother – all these parts she had in life, she played them well. She will be sadly missed and never forgotten. We love you.

Feli will be lovingly remembered by her loving husband, Robert (Bob) Wallace; her children: Ian Wallace of Charlottetown, PE, and Bruce Wallace of Lower Millstream, NB; her cherished grandson: Roland Wallace; her sisters: Carolann Taylor of Rothesay, NB and Rosalee Dunfield of Apohaqui, NB her brothers: Jim Watters (Pat) of Sussex, NB and Rick Reynolds (Irma) of Rothesay, NB; and. Feli is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, Feli was predeceased by her daughter, Alana Watters; her sisters: Linda Spence, Helen Watters, Agneta Robinson (Wheaton), and Katie Watters; and her brothers-in-law, Clifford Dunfield and Gerald Taylor.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex 506) 433-1176, from where a visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 8 from 1-2pm, followed by a celebration of Feli’s life beginning at 2:00pm.

The family has asked that donations in memory of Feli may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com.
