Obituary of Jackie Mallory

It is with great sadness that the family of Jacqueline Margaret “Jackie” (Brewing) Mallory announces her passing, which occurred on September 17, 2026, at the Saint John Regional Hospital.

Born in Sussex, New Brunswick, on April 23, 1938, Jackie was the daughter of the late Fred and Vera Brewing and the loving wife of the late Bernard Mallory.

Jackie will live on in the hearts of her children, Bradley (Sheila) of Williams Lake, BC, Gregory (Melanie) of Edmonton, AB, and Pamela (Heather) of Jeffries Corner. She was an incredibly proud grandmother to Jennifer Roberts (Chris), Jocelyn Gentles (Justin), Jessica Mallory all of Williams Lake, William Mallory - Kyle and Avery Mallory-Kyle; and a cherished great-grandmother to Brendan, Leah and Jace Roberts of Williams Lake, BC, and Aubreigh and Layne Gentles, also of Williams Lake, BC; her sisters-in-law: Ramona Mallory of Ontario and Kaye Mallory of Saint John; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jackie was predeceased by Bernard, her loving husband of 63 years; her daughter, Janet Lee; her parents, Fred and Vera Brewing; her sister, Patricia Rouse (Floyd); her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Hartley (Helen), George, Kenneth (Bernice), David (Sarah), Cyril, Helen Reicker (Roy), and Yvonne Sherwood (Douglas); her nephews, Lee Mallory, Brent Mallory, Earle Mallory, Roy Mallory and Gerald Rouse; and her niece, Heather (Mallory) Murphy.

Following her graduation from Sussex High School, Jackie moved to Toronto, where she worked for Manufacturers Life Insurance. Although Toronto offered new opportunities, her heart remained in New Brunswick, and her longing to be closer to family and friends eventually brought her home to Sussex.

Jackie later worked for the Department of Transportation, retiring after 18 years of service.

Family was always an important part of Jackie’s life. She and Bernard made several trips out west, taking in the incredible scenery along the way and, most importantly, spending time with family. She also enjoyed travelling on bus tours with family and friends and treasured the memories and friendships made along the way.

At home, Jackie found happiness in the quieter things in life. She loved to read and crochet and could happily spend the cold winter months working on word searches and puzzles.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB. A Celebration of Jackie’s Life will be held from St. Mark's Anglican Church on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a time of fellowship with the family. A private family interment will take place at Trinity Anglican Cemetery.

The family would also like to extend their appreciation and heartfelt thanks to Donna, Carol, and Josie, and all the doctors and nurses at the Saint John Regional Hospital, for all their kindness, care, and compassion. It will never be forgotten. Reverend Allen Tapley and Reverend Paul Ranson who will lead the celebration of Jackie’s life, and to everyone who will be attending the service, who have reached out thru phone and messages, prayers, made memorial donations, or supported the family in any way.
