Obituary of Peter Stewart Dobbin
It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our dearly loved Peter Stewart Dobbin on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. Born in Saint John, NB on August 13, 1960, he was a son of Allen Sutherland Dobbin and Florence Mildred Dobbin Hakkers (Jones).
Peter is survived by his three daughters: Melissa Brown (Kevin), Natasha Hall (Chase), and Sarah Dobbin (David); his grandchildren: Hayley Hubbard (Nick), Jordan Brown (Kassidi), Jackson Brown, Logan, Leo, and Cruz Hall; and his great grandchildren, Rowen, Koby, and Kalla; Peter is also survived by his brothers: Don (Kathie), Tim (Barb), and Keith (Sue); his sisters: Wendy Beshara (Fred) and Victoria Cassidy (Daniel), along with several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his infant granddaughter, Nova Lynn, and nephews, Aaron, Stephen, and Jack.
Peter (Pete) was an avid Blue Jays fan and in his younger years he played KV softball (KV Reds and KV Blues). He loved to play chess and became an avid chess player.
Peter was employed at Saint John Ship Building as a pipefitter/welder for many years and was well-known in his hometown and community, Rothesay, NB.
Pete was the friendliest, kindest soul you would ever meet. He had a strong faith in the Lord and his favourite saying was, “Praise the Lord.” Some of the activities he enjoyed were walking, swimming, and family gatherings -- although, once he was fed, he would look for whoever was finished for a ride home (LOL), and seeing and spending time with his girls and grandkids.
He enjoyed a good meal, especially take-out from The Med, Mama’s, the Big Stop, or JJ’s. He also loved Wendy’s homemade fries and potato salad.
Peter was a good friend, especially when it came to being chauffeur for his friend, Graham, and having long chats with his neighbour, Ron Perkins.
Pete’s favourite TV shows were “Big Bang Theory” and watching the Blue Jays. His greatest joy was hearing about his grandchildren’s achievements and their visits. He had a heart of gold and found joy in sponsoring a child in Africa through World Vision. He always enjoyed a good laugh and could easily make others laugh with his contagious sense of humour. Everyone loved Pete.
Above all, to those who knew him best, being a father to his three girls was his greatest joy and proudest accomplishment. He loved his girls!
Special thanks to the girls (Joanne, Cassandra, and Carrie) from Assessment Plus Home Health Care, Extramural KV, and the staff of 4CN at the Saint John Regional Hospital.
Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home (34 Sunnyside Dr. Sussex, NB). The family will host a graveside service on Tuesday, September 29 at St. Luke’s Anglican Cemetery, Gondola Point, at 2:00pm, followed by a celebration of Peter’s life at the Parish Hall of St. Luke’s on Quispamsis Rd. All family and friends are welcome.
