Dear family and friends of Nancy:
She and I worked beside each other years ago and I felt so graced to see her smiling face enter the unit, knowing the shift would be well covered with her there too. Nurses have their favorites. In my long career, she is one of my collegues I loved dearly.
We called each other, real nurses, then we would laugh that knowing laugh. Bless you Nancy. Your presence always calmed the fearful and comforted the ones in pain. Prayers go out for your family Nancy. xoxo see you in the after life Nancy xoxoxo

Janet, Michael and Family
Our deepest condolences on the loss of your most precious mother and Grandmother. Our nursing class at St. Clares Hospital was like part of a larger family. When we graduated and moved to Labrador City to work at the Hospital we became even closer friends. As we started our families, we spent many good times visiting each other. She was a fantastic nurse, and an amazing mother who was so proud of her children. Your Mom and Dad were Godparents to our daughter Pam. Even though we lost contact the past couple of years I checked with Anna to get updates on how your Mom was doing. May pleasant memories of your Mom sustain you at this most difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Janet and Family, Michael;
I was so very saddened to learn of your Mom’s passing. Nancy had a huge influence on my Nursing career. She was a nurse I wanted to emulate… professional, kind, good sense of humour, calm. When Nancy was on there was a sense of relief both as a co- worker and also as a patient( myself).
I was drawn to Nancy almost immediately when I found out she was a Newfoundlander. My mom was a proud Newfoundlander and we also felt we were one half proud Newfoundlanders as well! Nancy came from a large family as did I. We were bought up Catholic and we joked about lots of “Catholicisms” together. She had a lot of innate wisdom about a lot of “stuff”.
She became a true mentoring influence both in nursing and life. I think I told her so once. Hope she remembered.
I know you, her family, will miss her terribly. She was so proud of you all.
Sincerely,
Anne Healy-Swift

Janet and Michael - my condolences to you both and all who loved her. How lucky I was to have had her my whole life. I am so grateful to have been in New Brunswick a few weeks ago and to have seen her one more time. We talked about you both, her much adored grandsons and of our life together in Labrador.
I loved to tell anyone who would listen about my wee but mighty godmother, who delivered me into this world, made her own drum and chanted with me beneath the arbiutus trees on Salt Spring Island.
