Obituary of Kathleen Betteridge
Mrs. Kathleen Betteridge of Kiwanis Nursing Home formerly Cedar Camp, NB passed away at her residence on Sunday June 23, 2002. Kathleen was born in Stratford, Avon, England on March 21,1908. She was the daughter of the late John Harris and Kate (Petty) Ward both of England. Kathleen was the beloved wife of the late Leslie Wilford Betteridge who passed away October 16, 1998 She is survived by her son John Betteridge and his wife Dorothy of Cedar Camp, 4 daughters Eileen Baxter and her husband Harvey of Baxter's Corner, Winnifred Teakles and her husband Currie of Drurys Cove, Alice Folkins and her husband Lorne of Sussex, Jean Brown of Sussex Corner and her friend Lawson Myra of Sussex, 17 Grandchildren, Kevin Baxter and his wife Andrea, Karen Furlong and her husband Thom, Darren Baxter and his wife Kim, Roger Teakles and his wife Theresa, Wendy Teakles and Daniel, Cheryl Mason and her husband Roger, Lorraine Armstrong and her husband Robbie, Randy Teakles and his wife Tina, Jack Betteridge and his wife Marg, Shelley Cudmore and her husband Greg, Teresa O'Brien and her husband Scott, Tony Folkins and his wife Anne, Patricia Power and her husband Bill, Russell, Katie and Morgan Brown, 24 Great grandchildren, Curtis, Colin, Emily, Laura, Randi, Josh, Brodie, Dalton, Zack, Molly, Kyle, Nicholas, Brianna, Jonathan, Zackery, Justin, Isaiah, Hannah, Emily, Mitchell, Christopher, Sara, Emily and Taryn, as well as several nieces and nephews. Kathleen was predeceased by her brother Roland Ward who passed away January 15, 1998. Kathleen Betteridge Kathleen immigrated with her parents and brother to Fredericton at an early age. She graduated from Provincial Normal School in Fredericton and taught school for many years through out New Brunswick. After accepting a teaching position in Cedar Camp she met her husband, Les. Kathleen took a few years off from teaching until their five children were in school. She then resumed her teaching career, teaching at the Cedar Camp School, The Waterford School and finally at the Frank F. Keirstead Memorial School for the mentally handicapped, which she found most rewarding. Kathleen enjoyed farm life and especially her flowers. She also loved to knit, cross-stitch and playing the piano. She was the organist for the United Church in Waterford for many years. She also taught piano to the children in the area. Kathleen was a great cook and her gravy was her specialty. She enjoyed having her family visit and always prepared big delicious meals. She was always looking forward to seeing all her grandchildren and great grandchildren, as they were delight. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). The Funeral Service will be held from Wallace Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Stephen Bradley officiating. Interment will follow in Creightonville Cemetery. Donations made to the Creightonville Cemetery, Cystic Fibrosis or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
