Obituary of Cecelia McGarrigle
While surrounded by her family, the death of Cecelia McGarrigle (McManus) occurred peacefully on Friday, January 11, 2002 at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Sussex, NB on September 17, 1912, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Murphy) McManus and the beloved wife of the late Wilfred L. McGarrigle who passed away in 1987. Cecelia is survived by her children: one daughter, Theresa Moore and her husband Donald of Sussex; three sons, Cecil and his wife Jackie of Sussex, Donald and his wife Cel of Woodstock, Eldon and Carol Randall of Fredericton, her daughter-in-law, Carol McGarrigle of Fredericton, her sister, Doreen Doherty of Waterford; fourteen grandchildren, Maryann, Dianne, Maureen, Heather, Tony, Timmy, Tanya, Tessa, Troy, Laurie, Shane, Terry, Nancy and Robbie; thirteen great grandchildren, Andrew and Jason Wallace, Mark and Katie McGarrigle, Chelsea and Amanda McGarrigle, Josh, Terri-lee and Abbie McGarrigle, James and Jessie Whan, Sarah and Charlotte Knappe, as well as several nieces and nephews. Cecelia was predeceased by two sons, Gerald and Marven, her sister Theresa and two brothers Montgomery and Daniel. Cecelia was a devout Catholic and Life Member of Saint Theresa's Catholic Women's League in Fredericton, NB. She lived in Fredericton for 43 years before returning to Sussex in August of 2000. She was a dedicated sports fan who loved her Toronto Blue Jays and Maple Leafs; as well as bowling and curling. She was an avid bingo player who cherished her Monday night games with her beloved friends. She was a wonderful, loving and caring mother, grandmother and friend to many. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where the family will be receiving relatives and friends on Saturday 7-9, Sunday 2-4, 7-9. Funeral Mass will be celebrated from St. Francis Xavier on Monday, January 14, 2002 at 11:00 am, with Fr. Peter Bagley officiating. Interment will be at Wards Creek Cemetery in the spring. As an expression of sympathy donations made to Diabetic Association, Kidney Foundation or the memorial of the donors choice would be appreciated by the family.
