Obituary of Murray Freeborn Tait

Murray Tait was born in Penobsquis on January 24, 1925; he was the son of the late Gordon and Ina (Gulliver) Tait. Murray attended a one room school house in Penobsquis and worked on the family farm where he lived and breathed farming. It was his religion and his politics. He also worked as a woodsman and stayed in various lumber camps. He thoroughly enjoyed the outdoors; his horses, Holstein cows and "Max" the farm dog. Murray also loved spending time with his family around the kitchen table. He enjoyed collecting farm antiques and dickering with people over price. Murray had a dry sense of humor and a quick wit, everyone always knew where they stood with him because he wasn't shy to say how it was... Murray loved when his grandchildren came to visit and was "Grampy of the Year" to them. Time with them was very precious and he truly made the most of his time with them; a luxury he didn't have when his children were young. There was always work to be done on the farm and animals that needed tending to. No rest in a farmer's life. Murray will live on in the hearts of Margaret (MacLennan) his beloved wife of 55 years; his two daughters: Nancy Pearson and her husband Mike of Chelton, PEI and Janice Tait of Truro, NS; his son Danny Tait of Penobsquis, NB; his grandchildren Erika Kubik (Mark), Matthew Pearson, Andrew Kubik (Kelsey) and Ben Pearson (Alannah) and his great grand daughter Miley; as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Murray Freeborn Tait of Penobsquis passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on November 14, 2012 at the age of 87. He is predeceased by his brother Ronald Tait and his sister Marion Jordan. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Saturday, November 17th from 12:30 to 2:00pm. A Celebration of Murray's life will take place immediately following the visiting hours. There will be a time of fellowship with Murray's family following the service. A private family interment will take place at Pioneer Cemetery. Donations made to the Red Cross (Sussex Division) or to the memorial of the donor's choice would be appreciated by the family. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
