Obituary of Otty McLean

Otty McLean was born in Belleisle Creek on May 12, 1925; he was the son of the late Edwin Adelbert McLean and Alvretta Clark McLean. Otty was an avid hunter and moose caller. He was a great family man who loved and lived to go hunting and fishing with his boys, his nephews and sometimes his daughters. All the little ones loved to see his many faces. He loved to tease all the kids, a good practical joke and to tell his many stories. Otty was a woodsman, a truck driver, a body mechanic for Lawson Motors Ltd. for 15 years, a carpenter for Metro Construction, Shamrock Realty Ltd. and was with McLean Brothers Construction for 15 years until his retirement. Otty was a life time member of Calvary Pentecostal Church. Otty will live on in the hearts of Annie, his beloved wife of 62 years, his children: Shirley Leiper and her husband Allen Jr. of Sussex, Edwin and his wife Sharon of Riverbank, Barbara Gallant and her husband Lester of Penobsquis, Wanda McArthur and her husband Burt of Apohaqui, Russell and his wife Sandy of Penobsquis, Wellington and his wife Patty of Hammondvale, Annette Cruickshank and her husband Blynn of Roachville, Tony and his wife Darlene of Norton; his sister, Dorothy Caunter of Sussex, his sisters-in-law, Myrtis McLean of Foxhill, Dot McLean of Hillsborough, Millie McLean of Edmonton, Alberta; 23 grandchildren: Greg Leiper and his wife Angie, Natalie Leiper, Jason Gallant and his wife Jill, Amanda Howe, Rodney McLean, Ricky McLean and his wife Erin, Robin McLean and his wife Shondra, Randall McLean and his wife Cassandra, Royden McLean and his wife Crystal, Andrew LeBlanc and Sara Handrahan, Erica LeBlanc, Lindsay McArthur, Mandy McGrath, Mark McArthur, Megan McLean and Adam Mercer, Alex McLean and Janelle Burchell, Miranda McLean and Travis McShane, Tyler McLean, Terri-Lynn Goddard and her husband Wesley, Tiffany McLean, Candace McLean, Carter Cruickshank and Rachel Crothers, Cody Cruickshank and Bobi Guzzo; 29 great-grandchildren: Allyson Leiper, Bradley Leiper, Connor Leiper, Taylor Leiper, Noah Leiper, , Megan McLean, Alexandria McLean, Shawna McLean, Chevy McCrea, Jessie McLean, Courtney McLean, Shane McLean, Aidan McLean, Ethan McLean, Dawson McLean, Eliza Gallant, Kayla Gallant, Jacob Gallant, Aidan Howe, Brandan Howe, Brianna Goddard, Harvey Goddard, Easton Mercer, Abigail McGrath, Myelle Muir, Amelia Nichols and Madalin McArthur; as well as several nieces and nephews. Otty is predeceased by his son, Douglas, his brothers, Charlie, George, Sheldon, Spurgeon, Levi and Angus, and by his sisters: Beatrice Gowan, Hazel Williams, Sylvia Crawford, Blanche Williams;Mr. Viotti (Otty) Sylvester McLean of Apohaqui, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on October 16, 2011 at the age of 86. He will be sorrowfully missed by all. Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) Visitation will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church on Tuesday from1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00 PM. A Celebration of Otty's life will be held from Calvary Pentecostal Church on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at 11:00 am. A private family interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery. The family will be returning to the Church for a time of fellowship with relatives and friends following the interment.
