Obituary of Emerson James Fanjoy

Emerson was born on the 26th of April 1925. He attended school in Chambers Settlement and for a short time in Waterford. As a young man he worked on the family farm in Chambers Settlement and in the lumber camps. He thought it was quite an honor to be chosen to work with Steve Chaunessey and to have Devel Skin Robinson provide his meals. When WWII broke out, like many of the local men he enlisted to do his part for his country. Due to his father's failing health, he felt it was his duty as the eldest son to return to Chambers Settlement to work the family farm. Soon after he joined the Princess Louise's 8th Hussars. In 1945, he met and married Mildred Allaby, the Chambers Settlement school teacher. In 1946, they moved to Urney and purchased a farm where they began the family he was so proud of. Emerson worked very hard his whole life, he provided for his family by working the farm, cutting wood, driving trucks, as well as working for Canada Packers for a period. As his family grew and expanded, Emerson focused on farming. In 1966, Mildred passed away leaving him to raise his family. With the help of his mother, Eva, Mildred's sisters and his great neighbours his children grew into young prosperous people. Emerson was there for anyone who needed him, whether it was family, friend or neighbour. In 1971, Eva passed away and Emerson's father, James lived with him until his death in 1988. It was then that Emerson returned to his roots and purchased the family farm in Chambers Settlement, where he carried on the tradition of raising sheep and keeping cattle. Emerson spent his final years on his farm in Chambers Settlement where he anticipated the changing seasons on his magnificent hills and visits with family and friends. Emerson will continue to live on in the hearts of his daughter: Karen LeBlanc; his four sons: Marshall and his wife Barb, Roger and his wife Lorraine, Peter and his wife Susan, and Oscar and his wife Sheila; his sister, Eileen Hawkes and her husband Murray; his three brothers: Harry and his wife Verda, Carl and his wife Joyce and Ralph and his wife Audrey; his grandchildren: Darren, James, Robert, John and his wife Heather, Martha and her husband Terry Beaulieu, Anna (Jory Lane), Ben and his wife Colleen, Amy McGarity and her husband Mike, Bradley Gold and his wife Diane, Beth Bezzant and her husband Darren, Laura (Richard Rodrigue), Julie (Adam Mitchell), Janette (Dustin Blyth), Maggie of Berwick, NS, Brian, Mandy LeBlanc (Devin Day), Stephanie Leblanc (Ryan), Amanda, Grant, Ryan, Joshua and Connie Chambers (Lucas Koltusky); his great grand-children: Jeneca, Seth, Kevin, Sean, Breeanna, Aedan, Chris, Corey, Shawna, Nikki, Courtney, Josh, Meagan, Robert, Kailey, Alisha, Alexis and Ashton; his two great great grandchildren: Kayden and Ivy; his daughter-in-law Anne Chambers of Poodiac as well as several nieces and nephews. Mr. Emerson James Fanjoy of Chamber Settlement passed away on December 9, 2012 at the age of 87. He was predeceased by his daughter, Leona Murray and his son, David Chambers. Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-11760, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 11, from 2-4 and 7-9pm.
